EDITORIAL OF INFLUENCE: On adding 2 years in basic ed

We have to believe that the additional two years in basic education is the right solution in boosting the quality of education in our country.

There should be no more disputes about the issue. Let us take the cases of developed countries like United States of America, China, Japan and several countries in Europe. These countries offer 12-year basic education and look what kind of education they have. They belong to the top countries with high literacy rates.

In effect, their economy advanced and this is because of the competent manpower they produce form the education they provide to their people. We want to progress too. So if we are still adamant about the issue, think its benefits to us and to our country.

It has been a millennium that we only acquire formal basic education in a span of 10 years only. We know that it is high time that we revolutionize our educational system. Why don’t we give it a try? Anyway, there’s no harm in trying.

ISSUE: Adding 2 years in Basic Education

OPINION: I think no need to add 2 more years… it is the student actually if she/he really wants to have an education or pursue something. one thing more is that, it will add another burden to the parents because they will need more time and money again to send their students to school for another two years. what is important i think is that the government should give more books..

Own opinion: Adding of two years in basic education curriculum is not a solution to make our education QUALITY. Government should do first some programs or seminars regarding on how to become a effective teacher.Competencies involving in teaching strategies, methods, and techniques may be consider in their educational program.Government should have a clear direction on my mind where this program may implemented or not.The success or failure of any educational endeavor lies to a great extent on the hands of a teacher who is one who unpacks the curriculum package and executes it.To make a quality education in our country government should the authority to execute laws in improving competencies of our teacher in achieving task for the quality of instruction lies an their hands.
Comparing to other countries that have this program they ready and they are the developed countries and they have concept and principle, not the "GAYA GAYA system".
A well-thought and well-planned curriculum will be pointless and useless under this K-12 if a teacher who does not posses the competencies to deliver the good, so to speak. The formation of a clearly defined framework of teaching competencies strengths and enhances our goal of continually improving the quality of education and services provide of our government to the students.
