On The Wheels of Dreams
For common children, it is a must to master how to ride a bike for a simple reason – recreation. But for a “padyak” boy like Freddie, biking means more than just a pastime because for him, biking is living.
“I am earning 200 pesos each day every after class. Part of it is spent in buying two kilograms of rice to feed seven members of our family.” he said with a tone of conviction, which makes him sound older than his actual age.
Since he does not own the tri-bike, as he told, he must take extra care for in case it is wrecked he will be the one responsible for the repair of the bike.
Despite all these, working does not pose a threat for his studies because according to his teachers, Freddie is as diligent in his studies as he is in bicycling.
And just like the wheels of his tri-bike, Freddie dreams that someday, his wheel of fate turns on top as he desires to be a future soldier, or if not, he wants to own many tri-bikes and have them hired by people or children who like him are in need.
